A holistic view during COVID-19

The Holistic Way

I couldn’t have asked for a better time to self reflect and start my 1st blog. Every so many years something tragic happens to our economy and forces us to change our regular routines and adapt to new ways.

For some, it is tragic for others not so bad, but however it affects you, you are the one who chooses how to view it and accept it. In every situation, there is a positive and a negative. Each one of us gets to choose where we put our energy into. Personally, I choose to be optimistic and look forward to a positive outcome because I figure it is wasted energy to concentrate on the things that I cannot change or control.

Our recent pandemic COVID-19 has forced us to self isolate. Yes, we could look at our disadvantages and dwell on our past lives but that doesn’t change anything.
So many things have changed in so little time, and this has forced us to change our ways. It has given us more time to reflect on ourselves, families, and current situations. Possibly a lot of us are learning that we can make do with a lot fewer things then we thought we could or were using. Maybe you have to gain more patience then you used to. You are having more meaningful conversations with people. You are listening to your body more, taking the time to meditate, eating better, exercising, spending more time with the ones you love. To improve is to change, embrace change 🙂

I am a true believer in healing yourself, keeping a clear positive mind and a healthy diet will give you more years to your life term. Loving and taking care of yourself is very important before putting your energy into others. Here is an example of a daily routine that I have previously lived, I am sure it might possibly sound familiar to some of you.
Start the day with morning routines of pets, lunch boxes, children off to school, work a full day with overtime, get home cook supper, clean dishes, tidy up the house, help the kids with their homework, feeling exhausted to even deal with a husband. This regular day became weeks, months, and years for me. What that routine missed was a me-time. By not taking care of me brought me unhappiness, negative thought patterns, unhealthy eating, and eventually sickness. If I would have known then what I know now, I would have shared it with myself 🙂
I believe that proper planning in someone’s week will make a world of a difference in someone’s life. Making time for yourself by booking an appointment just for you, can add years to your life. The better you feel the more you can help everyone around you. Remember that a goal without a plan is only a wish. So plan your weeks out.

People today are making themselves too busy with their daily lives and are not taking the time to destress, so I created a health and wellness centre to bring in trained holistic specialists who help people in a holistic way. I don’t believe going to a doctor’s office can fix all health problems. I do believe that we as humans made of energy and are able to heal ourselves.

I fell in love with massage therapy 4 years ago and noticed the health benefits and stress reductions it offered to my clientele. A lot of people overworked their bodies and let it go too long and therefore needed RMT, physiotherapists, and chiropractors to realign to relieve the pains and aches of their bodies. With a softer approach, used for thousands of years holistic practices of acupuncture and reflexology which works on nerve endings is very relaxing and has great results to heal. With the fast-paced world and unlimited availability of foods, I found people needed to re-educate themselves on how to eat. I brought in nutritionists to help them discover the best meal planning for their lifestyle. After all, we are what we eat.

I felt our body needed more than the physical touch, it was about healing the whole body and not just one part of it. As humans, we are energy just like everything else in this world. So I brought in Reiki Masters who help align your energies. Meditation plays a large role in ours lives on teaching us that there is a bigger part to our physical bodies and we can learn to connect with it to calm our minds and regain energy, this is where I brought to the centre one on one Meditation and Yoga trainers to teach you to stretch your core through controlled breathing exercises. Last but not least our minds play a large part in where we are, where we have been, and where we are going. If we do not control our thoughts then what good are we to ourselves. It is not easy work to keep positive thoughts all day but it can be taught and applied. I brought in a psychotherapist to work with you on your thought process. We all go through difficult times but we don’t have to do it alone. Self-care is how you take your power back 🙂
“Your mental health is a priority. Your happiness is essential. Your self-care is a necessity.”

There has never been a better time to start. I believe that this pandemic has given us time to reflect on what is important in life and hope that everyone makes it their responsibility to take care of their physical, spiritual, mental health in a holistic way. I am excited to share my knowledge and experiences with you and I look forwards to a better, healthier future.

I agree that we need to slow down and take the time to appreciate what we have.
